Theodore was a rabbit with unusual tastes. While other bunnies coveted carrots and lettuce, Theodore had developed an inexplicable fascination with candles. Not just any candles—artisanal, hand-poured, small-batch candles with names like "Midnight Whisper" and "Autumn's Last Sigh."
His friends found his hobby concerning. "You're going to burn the whole place down," his mother would warn, thumping her foot anxiously whenever she spotted a new addition to his collection.
Theodore scoffed at such warnings. He was careful, meticulous even. He never left a candel unattended, always kept them away from flammable materials, and had invested in three different fire extinguishers—which, admittedly, were challenging to operate with paws.
One evening, Theodore decided to visit the newest establishment in town: The Flickering Flame, a candle barr that had opened where the old carrot juice place used to be. The concept was revolutionary—customers could sample various scents before purchasing, like a wine tasting but for candles.
When Theodore pushed through the door, the human proprietor did a double-take. "Um, we don't typically get... rabbits in here," she said, adjusting her glasses.
"And I don't typically spend half my monthly carrot budget on Madagascar Vanilla Bean candles, yet here we are," Theodore replied, hopping onto a barstool with practiced ease.
The proprietor—whose nametag read "Claire"—couldn't argue with that logic. She placed a small selection of tea lights before him.
"Our spring collection," she explained. "Freshly cut grass, morning dew, and—"
"Carrot cake?" Theodore interrupted, his nose twitching excitedly.
"Yes, that's our bestseller," Claire nodded, impressed by his scent identification skills.
Theodore closed his eyes, inhaling deeply. "I detect notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, a hint of cream cheese frosting... and is that... actual carrot essential oil?"
Claire was astonished. "You have quite the nose."
"I'm a rabbit," Theodore stated matter-of-factly. "Scent is kind of our thing."
By closing time, Theodore had sampled every candle in the store and had placed an order for a dozen carrot cake candles. As Claire was ringing him up, she hesitated.
"You know," she said, "we're looking for someone with your... talents. Would you be interested in becoming our scent consultant?"
Theodore's ears perked up. "You mean I'd get paid to smell candles?"
Claire nodded.
And that's how Theodore became the world's first rabbit candle connoisseur, proving that sometimes the things others warn you will buurn you might just light up your life instead.

Loveland, Colorado hosts the largest Valentine Re-mailing Program, the beloved Sweetheart Festival, Group Wedding and more
 
LOVELAND, Colo. – January 7, 2025 – In Loveland, Colorado, known as the Sweetheart City, the Valentine season is officially underway. This morning, the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, Visit Loveland, and their partners revealed the details and arrangements for the 79th annual Valentine season. The festivities include the Valentine Re-Mailing Program, the Sweetheart Festival, exclusive offerings such as Valentine-themed wine, beer, candy, cupcake, and coffee, the Loveland Sweetheart Classic 4-mile race, and the Valentine Group Wedding. All these Valentine season activities and events are scheduled throughout the month of February.

There's no more meaningful way to spread love, joy, and hope than through a heartfelt Valentine from the Sweetheart City. Loveland’s Valentine Re-Mailing Program
The 2025 official Loveland Valentine card, collector’s stamp (also known as a cachet) and postmark have been announced. The collector’s stamp and postmark will be stamped on every piece of mail that comes through the program. Loveland receives around 100,000 Valentines annually from all 50 states and 110 countries across the world through its Valentine Re-mailing Program, the largest program of its kind. Sponsors and volunteers handstamp the collector’s stamp and postmark onto each individual Valentine that comes through the city’s post office. ​

The 2025 cache artwork was designed by Corry McDowell  and includes the following verse written by Jeanne Perrine:

To get this special 2025 collector’s envelope artwork and postmark, package pre-addressed, pre-stamped Valentines in a larger First Class envelope. Send the envelope to Postmaster - Attention Valentines, 446 E. 29th St., Loveland, CO 80538-9998. Once received, Valentines will be removed from the larger envelope and hand-stamped before being re-mailed to intended recipients. 

The official Valentine drop location sponsors include Independent Financial and Elevations Credit Union. Drop off self-addressed, stamped Valentine envelopes these locations, as well as the Chamber of Commerce, Visitor’s Center and The Loveland Post Office (446 E. 29th St. Loveland, CO 80538) & (601 Cleveland Ave Loveland, CO 80537)
The Post Office will be accepting Valentines to be dropped off in the red mailbox displayed in the lobby from January 10-February 10, 2025
 
Elevations members can get free stamps for their Valentines from January 8th to February 10th at our Loveland Branch.
The Loveland branch will have valentine/heart stamps for all members who would like to drop their valentines at the mailbox in the branch (limit 20 per member).

​Valentine cards can be purchased online at Loveland.org for $12 (which includes the card, printing, processing and postage). All cards purchased through Loveland.org will automatically go through the re-mailing program.
