Sustainability is a responsibility. At Big Deal Company, we take this responsibility seriously. Here’s a glimpse into how we ensure our events (and clients) leave a positive impact on the planet: Digital Transformation: Zoom, Zoom, Zoom! We’ve fully embraced digital meetings, reducing the need for in-person gatherings, and cutting down on transportation emissions. We also have moved all of our record-keeping to digital platforms, and work to keep most of our communications online, as well. By leveraging technology, we not only save time and resources but also significantly lessen our carbon footprint. Local Sourcing: From event items to printing materials, we prioritize sourcing locally. Not only does this support our community, but it also reduces the environmental impact associated with long-distance transportation. Team-wide Recycling: Sustainability starts at home! Our entire team is committed to personal recycling, ensuring that we minimize waste at home, in the office, and at our events. Comprehensive Recycling Options: We go the extra mile to provide recycling options at all our events. From dedicated bins to clear signage, we make it easy for our clients and their attendees to dispose of their waste responsibly. Reuse, Reuse, Reuse: Our commitment to sustainability extends to every detail, including event signage. We use recyclable paper for all printed signage and repurpose and reuse the frames that hold them, minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency. Linen Laundering: Whenever possible, we use and launder our own linens instead of opting for disposable alternatives. This not only reduces waste but also ensures a higher-quality experience for all. Recycled Decor: Sustainability doesn’t mean sacrificing style. We recycle and reuse decor for multiple events, giving each gathering our unique Big Deal touch while minimizing environmental impact. Compostable Catering: Food waste is a BIG DEAL. Whenever we’re not using china for an event, we prioritize compostable catering options, ensuring that even leftovers can sustainably return to the earth. BIG DEAL Carpool Karaoke: Transportation is a significant contributor to carbon emissions. That’s why our team strives to carpool to most events and meetings, reducing the number of vehicles on the road and the associated environmental footprint. Plus, we enjoy each other’s company - carpool time is team-building time, too! How We Help Clients Create Eco-Friendly Events:
Sustainability isn’t just a checkbox on an event “To-Do” list. It’s a BIG DEAL Core Principle that guides everything we do. Together, with our clients and partners, we’re shaping a brighter, greener future, one event at a time. Let’s make every gathering a celebration of sustainability!

Choosing sustainable alternatives minimizes the event’s carbon footprint and fosters a culture of environmental responsibility. Eco-friendly events are not only popular, they are required by some companies who are trying to reduce their carbon footprint. Here are the top 5 products to consider when planning your next event: 1. Biodegradable utensils and tableware 2. Compostable decorations 3. Reusable banners and signage 4. Recycled paper products 5. Eco-friendly cleaning supplies Biodegradable utensils and tableware are typically made from materials such as bamboo, agave, or cornstarch and are a great alternative to single use plastic. They decompose naturally and reduce the plastic waste that is produced by most events. Compostable decorations such as banners and signs can be made from recycled materials or natural fibers. Most reusable signs are durable and can be reused for many events. Consider signs that can be utilized at multiple events to help further reduce waste and keep items out of the landfills. Recycled paper products can be used for invitations, programs and other promotional materials to help conserve natural resources and reduce energy consumption with production. You may also want to consider using QR Codes with links to timelines to help in reducing waste. Finally, incorporating eco-friendly cleaning supplies or employing an eco-friendly cleaning company ensures that the post-event cleanup is as environmentally friendly as possible. Look for products that minimize the introduction of harmful chemicals into our ecosystems while promoting a healthier environment for your attendees and staff. From conferences to weddings, our BIG DEAL clients are seeking ways to make their gatherings more sustainable. Fortunately, there are plenty of simple yet effective practices you can adopt to reduce your event’s carbon footprint. Here are 10 easy sustainable event practices that you can implement to minimize environmental impact without compromising on the quality of your event. Digital Invitations E-invites’ moment started long before the recent push for green events. Convenient and cost-effective, digital invitations reduce waste and mailbox clutter. Not only do digital invitations significantly reduce paper waste, digital platforms allow for easier RSVP tracking and communication with guests. Venue Selection When shopping for venues, prioritize venues that have sustainability initiatives in place. Look for venues with LEED certification, renewable energy sources, or a commitment to waste reduction. By supporting sustainable venues, you're contributing to a larger movement towards environmental responsibility. Reusable Decorations Instead of purchasing disposable decorations, opt for reusable options that can be used for future events or repurposed in other ways. At BIG DEAL, we invite clients to “shop” our stock of complimentary rental decor items. Potted plants that can be sent home with guests or auctioned off, fabric banners, or LED lighting to create a festive atmosphere without generating unnecessary waste. Green Transportation When venue shopping, consider proximity to your public transportation options and minimize the distance guests will travel to attend. Encourage attendees to carpool, use public transportation, or bike to your event. Offer incentives such as preferred parking for carpoolers or bike racks for cyclists. By reducing the number of vehicles on the road, you'll decrease carbon emissions and promote sustainable transportation alternatives. Zero Waste Catering Work with catering companies that specialize in zero-waste practices. Opt for locally sourced, organic foods and beverages, and ensure that all serving materials are compostable or recyclable. By minimizing food waste and single-use plastics, you'll significantly reduce your event's environmental footprint. Provide Plant-Based Food Options Using plant-based catering for events can significantly reduce the environmental impact by lowering greenhouse gas emissions associated with animal agriculture and minimizing water usage compared to traditional meat-based menus. Vegetarian and vegan guests appreciate having options to choose from at events, where they sometimes feel excluded. Waste Disposal Stations Set up clearly labeled recycling and compost bins throughout your event space to encourage proper waste disposal. Work with your venue or waste management company to ensure that waste is sorted correctly and diverted from landfills whenever possible. Donate Leftovers Coordinate with a local food bank or shelter to donate any leftover food from the event rather than letting it go to waste. Leftover decor can be reused at future events or auctioned off or sent home with guests to use and display at home. Local nursing homes and hospitals often appreciate donations of floral arrangements or live plants. Sustainable Swag If your event involves gift bags or other giveaways, opt for recycled, recyclable, and reusable items. Ideas we’ve used include:
End-to-End Mobile Solutions By leveraging mobile apps for event planning, registration, and communication, organizers can eliminate the need for paper-based processes, such as printed agendas and tickets, thus reducing paper waste. Mobile apps can also streamline logistics, allowing attendees to access event information, schedules, and updates in real-time, minimizing the need for printed materials and physical signage. Additionally, mobile ticketing and check-in solutions can streamline entry processes, reducing queuing times and minimizing the use of paper tickets or wristbands. By implementing these 10 easy sustainable event practices, you can significantly reduce the environmental impact of your gatherings while creating memorable experiences for attendees – and even saving money. Whether you're planning a corporate conference, wedding, or community fundraiser, small changes can add up to make a big difference. BIG DEAL Company looks forward to working together to promote sustainability in the events industry and pave the way for a greener future. Free downloadable:
