We hear the question all the time, "Do I really need to hire an event planner?" Maybe you are really organized... Maybe you are surrounded with helpful people. While there is no question that organizational skills and reliable friends can aid in an event's success - there is nothing like having a professional team to ensure your event is successful and stress free. With over 160 years of combined experience on our event planning team, we have compiled a number of memorable 'Event Planner to the Rescue' moments during our time working together. So many popped up that we had to make this a multi-part blog! Examples of how we have saved the day at events: - Guest Book Tree: Some over-served guests at a wedding decided to create their own art masterpiece and ruin a bride & groom's tree stump guest book. We jumped into action, had the guests removed, and came up with an alternative guest book to capture the day. - Safety Pins: We have them in our emergency kits and need these at every other event. We can't tell you how often there is a fabric emergency that requires a safety pin! - Cabs/Uber: We have called countless car services to get guests home safely. 50% of our own planning team have actually been designated drivers at client events when a car service wasn't available. - Bubbles: Can't get kiddos down the aisle? We can, and have. We carry bubbles in our emergency kits. Little kids who are too small to be predictable in a wedding party will make it down the aisle if bubble are available! - Vodka Run: We have planned countless events where the amount of alcohol the client provided was underestimated and BIG DEAL ran to the liquor store to pick up more. Booze, juice boxes, ice.... you name it. We are often the wheels and credit cards behind the scenes so your fun isn't interrupted. - Bussing tables: We aren't caterers, but you would never know it. If your caterer doesn't have enough hands, or you ordered 'drop & go catering' without realizing that you need someone to serve the food and clean up.... we are often in the background, cleaning up. - Pen for marriage certificate: You just said I do. You need to make it official. Who has the marriage certificate? Who has a pen to sign it? We do. We even bring a 'pretty pen' which you would prefer to have in photographs over that pen with your realtor's address on it. -Sewing kit repairs: Our emergency kits includes a sewing kit... and yes, we have run out of thread! You may be surprised how many outfit fails happen a year. We can sew too! Planning an event? You NEED us. As a collective of experts, BIG DEAL Company specializes in creativity. With superior organization, marketing experience and original ideas, we pull off amazing events and campaigns!

It’s been nearly a month since we made the leap from My Big Day to BIG DEAL Company. While we have been basking in the glow of the change and are looking forward to an official unveiling of this rebrand at our Loveland Chamber Ribbon Cutting event next month, it is important to note that this change did not just happen overnight. Why we made the BIG change In the fast-paced world of business, companies often face the need to evolve and adapt to stay relevant. This was made very obvious to our team during the recent Covid-19 pandemic. When the world shut down in 2020, so did events. Our face-to-face work dried up in a matter of minutes. As a full-scale event company, we offered event marketing support for our clients, but marketing was always secondary to the creative and memorable events we had become known for. Covid-19 forced us to pivot and take a deeper dive into how we could still support our clients and new prospects through our expansive marketing knowledge and experiences, along with virtual or hybrid events. When My Big Day began 17 years ago, our focus was primarily on one-off events, marketing of those events, social celebrations and weddings. We built signature events designed to bring people together for fun, important causes, and memory-making. As our team grew, and as we creatively pivoted through the pandemic, we spent time focusing on our brand’s identity, our market position, and our main purpose. Through a lot of work and reflection, our team ultimately decided that our name no longer fully captured our full-service offerings. We decided that it was time to initiate a company rebrand. What is a company rebrand and insight into the BIG DEAL rebrand journey A rebrand goes beyond changing logos and colors - it involves a comprehensive process that aims to redefine a company’s identity, enhance its market positioning, and ignite a renewed sense of purpose. As mentioned before, our team spent time reflecting on and studying our brand identity, market position, and goals. Through our self-reflection, we were able to identify weaknesses and areas that we wanted to see improve. We spent time focusing on our mission, vision, and values and discussed how our My Big Day name did or did not perfectly align with these important markers. We surveyed customers and potential customers - asking them how they felt our brand represented the work that we did. Many people shared that when they heard the name, My Big Day, they immediately thought of “wedding planner”. While weddings were and still are a part of our skill sets and events, they only represent less than 10% of the actual work that we do. After we gathered feedback about our brand identity and name, we spent time clarifying our company’s positioning, our target audiences, our messaging, and brand promise. We wanted to make sure that by considering a rebrand of our business, we would be differentiating ourselves from other similar marketing and event agencies. Our team spent retreat time crafting a new statement of purpose, defining our mission, and focusing on our vision. Our leadership spent time learning about rebranding and business development through workshops, entrepreneurial retreats, and working with brand experts. After all of this work, we concluded that rebranding through a careful and thought-out process would enhance and benefit the work that our team did. That is how My Big Day was reborn as BIG DEAL Company. The BIG DEAL Purpose Enabling the goals and dreams of others brings our BIG DEAL team joy. With boundless resources and a lifetime of business development experience, our passion is supporting those who have purpose. Our team supports purpose-driven people and businesses by listening first. We are passionately curious about our clients and their businesses. We want to know what moves them and what they want to accomplish. We offer custom business support plans, all based on a company’s size and stated goals. Our packages offer a large variety of services - all in one place - giving companies a source of support and streamlined productivity. Who is BIG DEAL? The BIG DEAL Company rebrand was a transformative journey that required careful planning, research, and a well-thought implementation. It was more than just changing our name and logo. It was a process in which we studied and redefined our purpose, aligned it with current market expectations, and focused our mission on the work we have evolved into doing. By following this comprehensive rebranding process, we hope we have emerged refreshed and with a brand identity that more clearly expresses the work we do, resonates with our target audience, inspires team collaboration and creativity, and will ultimately propel our company forward into a new era of success! Planning a successful fundraiser requires careful consideration, a group of dedicated individuals and meticulous planning. While there are a plethora of details and steps to follow, defining fundraising goals is always the best place to start when planning a non-profit fundraiser. This involves identifying specific financial targets, the purpose of the fundraiser, and the programs or projects that it will support. Next, think about what would motivate people to support your organization, and begin to build creative and engaging fundraising ideas that align with your cause and resonate with your target audience. Do your followers prefer fancy gala dinners? Are they active and willing to participate in a charity run? Do they prefer online options such as a crowdfunding campaign? Select an idea that suits your resources, capacity, and the preferences of your donor base. Once you have an idea of how you will gather your followers and supporters, begin working on a dynamic event timeline. This timeline should outline all the key tasks leading up to the fundraiser. Set specific deadlines for each task, including securing a venue, arranging permits, and contacting and hiring vendors. This timeline should also include a communications and marketing plan for your event’s promotion. All fundraising events require a dedicated team of volunteers who can serve as ambassadors for your brand and are passionate about your cause. Start your volunteer search early, contacting interested parties often and consistently. Offset event costs by securing sponsors and event partners. Approach local businesses, corporations, and individuals who share your organization’s values and may be interested in sponsoring or partnering with your event. A variety of sponsorship levels and benefits are always a good way to attract donors. BIG DEAL Company has a proven Non-Profit Fundraising Plan BIG DEAL Company has worked with dozens of organizations, helping them build creative and engaging events and fundraising campaigns. Our approach goes beyond showing up to staff an event. We offer full-service support and are always thoughtful with non-profit budgets! I also use my fundraising background to help create materials that will anticipate donor questions. ![]() Amy Dixon Manager, Marketing Maven I try to bring joy to my clients by talking them up in social media posts. It’s always hard to brag about yourself, but if someone else is seeing the talent in you and is good at expressing your strengths in words, it’s a huge compliment! As purveyors of fun with BIG DEAL Company, we support businesses and individuals in the growth of their ideas, events and marketing strategies. Our creative aptitude and team of women with diverse backgrounds and expertise allows for unique ideas. Our passion for perfection makes every client a priority! ![]() Carrie Rose Brennan Manager, Content Queen My personal joy comes from the visual arts and photography. One way I express joy and share it with others is through my photography. My photography seeks to see things from a new perspective: capturing patterns and ratios, the play of light, and of course the product for our customers. I have worked on thousands of websites and use my skill of recognizing patterns to make great user-friendly websites for customers. When I design a website, I try to make it as user-friendly as possible as well as having the overall design capture the aesthetic and ethos of the company. ![]() Marissa Rogers Exceptional Event Expert One of my strengths is learning the little things that are most important to my clients, and my attention to detail. Sometimes the smallest details can make the biggest impact by featuring those details in an event. I look out for those little, surprise "wow" moments and how I can incorporate them into an event to make it really personalized and special. Our team listens first.
