The events industry, covering everything from corporate meetings and trade shows to weddings and private parties, is no longer isolated from outside influences. Planners today face a complicated environment shaped by global politics, economic ups and downs, changing consumer habits, and global trends. At Big Deal Company, we view these changes as chances to create smarter, more strategic, and more meaningful events. The Big Picture: Why This Matters Global trends are changing how events are planned, funded, and experienced. Geopolitical tensions and policy changes affect where events can happen safely and successfully. Economic pressures are tightening budgets and increasing the need to show clear returns on investment. Meanwhile, people now expect events to be more personal, sustainable, and focused on value. Technology and global connections are also changing how people attend and take part in events. These factors are leading the industry to plan more carefully, making every choice about location and design with strategy, flexibility, and impact in mind. 1. Geopolitical Influences on Event Planning Geopolitical conditions are now a core consideration—not an afterthought. What’s Changing & What This Means for Clients:

3. Corporate Meetings Are Now Measured by Results Corporate meetings are no longer just simple gatherings. Now, they are expected to show clear business results. Just having people attend is not enough. Events need to support company goals like increasing revenue, building the brand, and improving client relationships. Leaders want clear data that proves the event’s value, from engagement numbers to results after the event. Because of this, event design now focuses on creating experiences that help the business grow, not just on getting people in the room. 4. Weddings Are Becoming More Intentional (and Complex) Weddings are also feeling the effects of economic and cultural shifts. Planning a wedding should be exciting, not overwhelming. But with hundreds of moving parts, even the most organized couples can run into unexpected challenges. From budget missteps to timeline chaos, small mistakes can snowball into major stress. At Big Deal Company, we’ve seen it all and, more importantly, we know how to help you avoid these problems. Here are 10 common wedding planning mistakes and tips to make sure your big day goes smoothly. 1. Starting Without a Clear Budget Wedding planning can quickly become stressful if you skip the budget talk at the start. It’s easy to fall in love with a venue, a designer dress, or elaborate flowers, but costs can add up fast. Without a clear budget, couples may make emotional choices instead of smart ones, leading to overspending or tough compromises later. A solid budget guides your decisions and helps you focus on what matters most, like great food, entertainment, or photography. Adding a backup fund means you’ll be ready for any surprise expenses, which almost always happen. 2. Letting Pinterest Set Unrealistic Expectations Pinterest and Instagram are great for ideas, but they can also set unrealistic expectations. Many online weddings have big budgets, full teams, or custom features that aren’t practical for everyone. Trying to copy these exactly can be frustrating if costs or logistics don’t match your situation. Use inspiration boards to help define your style, not as a list to copy. The best weddings feel true to you, not just like a perfect photo. Focus on what you love and make it work for your vision, space, and budget. 3. Waiting Too Long to Book Vendors Timing is key in wedding planning, and waiting to book vendors can really limit your choices. Popular venues, photographers, planners, and caterers often book up a year in advance, especially during busy seasons. If you wait too long, you might have to settle for less or pay more for last-minute options. Booking early also helps your vendors work together and understand your vision. Planning ahead reduces stress and lets you focus on the fun, creative parts of your wedding instead of rushing to fill gaps. 4. Not Finalizing the Guest List Early Your guest count affects everything, from the size of your venue to how much you spend on food. If you miscalculate, you could end up with too many people or spend more than planned. Create a rough guest list before booking major vendors. 5. Trying to Please Everyone Family and friends will have plenty of opinions. Trying to make everyone happy can water down your own vision for the day. Stay grounded in what you and your partner want. It’s your day. 6. Skipping a Wedding Planner or Coordinator Many couples don’t realize how much coordination a wedding day needs. Even with careful planning, someone has to manage the schedule, talk to vendors, handle surprises, and keep things running smoothly. Without a professional, these jobs often fall to family or the couple, which can take away from enjoying the day. A wedding planner or coordinator serves as both a strategist and a problem-solver, ensuring everything goes as planned. Whether you choose full planning or just day-of help, having an expert lets you relax and enjoy your wedding, knowing the details are covered. 7. Underestimating the Timeline A wedding day timeline is more than just a schedule; it’s what keeps the whole event together. Many couples underestimate how long things really take. Hair and makeup can run late, traffic can slow down transportation, and family photos often take longer than planned. These small delays can add up and cause bigger problems. Without extra time built in, the day can feel rushed, and important moments might be missed. A good timeline allows for these delays, making the day flow smoothly and helping everyone feel more relaxed. 8. Ignoring Guest Experience It’s easy to focus on aesthetics—but your guests remember how the day felt. Think through flow, comfort, food timing, and overall experience. 9. Overloading the Details More isn’t always better. If you add too many decorations or activities, the day can feel crowded and overwhelming. Choose a cohesive theme and prioritize quality over quantity. 10. Forgetting to Enjoy the Moment With so many details to handle, couples can easily get caught up in the planning and miss out on enjoying their own wedding. If you focus too much on timing or perfection, you might forget what the day is really about. The best moments are often the unplanned ones, like laughter, quiet talks, and being with loved ones. To be present, plan some private time together, take a break during the reception, or trust your team to handle things. When you let go and enjoy the day, it becomes truly unforgettable. Why Working with Professionals Makes All the Difference Planning a wedding is like putting together a big, one-day event. With the right team, every detail will go smoothly, from working with vendors to keeping the schedule on track. If you avoid these common mistakes and work with experienced professionals, you can create a celebration that feels easy, meaningful, and truly your own. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about perfection—it’s about the experience. FAQs 1. What is the most common wedding planning mistake? The most common mistake is failing to set a realistic budget early, which can lead to overspending and difficult decisions later in the process. 2. When should I start planning my wedding? Ideally, you should begin planning 12–18 months in advance to secure your preferred venue and vendors. 3. Do I really need a wedding planner? While not required, a planner or coordinator can significantly reduce stress, manage logistics, and ensure your wedding day runs smoothly. Couples gather not for spectacle or stress, but for connection - for a ceremony that feels intentional, romantic, and deeply personal. The Loveland Valentine’s Day Wedding & Vow Renewal Ceremony is designed for couples who want a meaningful moment without the overwhelm (or price tag) of a traditional wedding. This is not a courthouse transaction - and it’s not a cookie-cutter event either. It’s a shared celebration of love, commitment, and choosing each other, surrounded by other couples doing the same. A Romantic (and Refreshingly Affordable) Way to Get Married Let’s be real: weddings can be expensive, complicated, and exhausting. This ceremony offers an alternative that still feels romantic and special. Couples receive a thoughtfully crafted group ceremony, live music, keepsake photos, and memorable touches unique to Loveland - the Sweetheart City. Beautiful Way to Renew Your Vows This event has also become a favorite for couples celebrating milestone anniversaries. Renewing vows in Loveland is less about recreating a wedding day and more about honoring the journey you’ve shared together. Many couples return to say “I still do” after 10, 20, and even 40+ years together. It’s a reminder that love grows, evolves, and deserves to be celebrated again and again. Meet the Team That Makes the Magic Behind the scenes is a small, dedicated team that’s been part of this tradition from the beginning: Todd Harding, former radio personality and beloved community voice, has served as the officiant since the very first ceremony. His delivery is warm, thoughtful, and grounded - never rushed, never generic. Branden Sipes brings the soundtrack. His live music sets a romantic, relaxed tone and has become a defining part of the experience year after year. And new this year: The Pulliam Community Building. Recently renovated, this space is bright, elegant, and welcoming—an ideal backdrop for an intimate ceremony that still feels like an occasion. Behind it all is Big Deal Company, the Northern Colorado-based marketing and events team that produces the Valentine’s Day Wedding & Vow Renewal Ceremony each year. Known for creating experiences that feel personal, polished, and community-centered, Big Deal brings together local talent, thoughtful details, and seamless planning to ensure couples can simply show up and enjoy the moment. Their goal is simple: make love the focus, not logistics. Why Couples Choose Loveland Loveland isn’t just the setting—it’s part of the story. Known nationally for its Valentine traditions, LOVE sculptures, and messages sent around the world each February, the city has earned its nickname as America’s Sweetheart City. Getting married or renewing vows here means stepping into that tradition and making part of your own history. A Community That Celebrates Love This year’s celebration wouldn’t be possible without the support of partners who believe in Loveland’s legacy as America’s Sweetheart City. The Loveland Chamber of Commerce and Visit Loveland - the tourism arm of the city, proudly support the Valentine’s Day Wedding & Vow Renewal Ceremony as part of their ongoing commitment to strengthening community, supporting local experiences, and welcoming couples from near and far to fall in love with Loveland—again and again. Love, Generosity, and Local Magic One of the most joyful parts of the Valentine’s Day Wedding & Vow Renewal Ceremony is how generously our community shows up for couples. Every registered couple receives a thoughtfully curated gift bag filled with local favorites, special offers, and meaningful surprises—plus a chance to win an incredible grand prize basket. We’re grateful to the following local businesses and organizations that help make this celebration extra special. (Each name below links to their website—go show them some love.)
Together, these partners turn a single ceremony into a full Valentine’s Day experience—one that couples remember long after the vows are spoken. Join Us This Valentine’s Day If you’re looking for a wedding that feels romantic but not overproduced—or a vow renewal that’s joyful, relaxed, and meaningful—this ceremony was created with you in mind. Tickets are limited, and each year the event fills with couples ready to celebrate love in a way that feels just right. Learn more and reserve your spot at www.ValentinesDayInLoveland.com Love doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, it just needs the right moment—and the right place. Frequently Asked Questions Is this a real, legal wedding? Yes. The Valentine’s Day Group Wedding is a fully legal ceremony. Couples are responsible for obtaining their marriage license in advance, and our officiant will complete and sign the paperwork so it can be properly filed after the ceremony. Can we bring guests? Absolutely. Couples are welcome to invite a small group of family and friends to share in the moment. The ceremony is designed to feel intimate and celebratory—more like a gathering of loved ones than a large production. The focus will be on the couples, so guests will be asked to sit in viewing sections around the room as space provides. What if we’re renewing our vows? Vow renewals are a cherished part of this event. Many couples join us to celebrate milestone anniversaries or simply to pause and recommit. Renewing couples take part in the same ceremony, with language thoughtfully crafted to honor years already shared. What’s included with registration? Registration includes the ceremony, live music, keepsake photos, a commemorative lock to “lock your love” in Loveland, a curated gift bag from local partners, and entry into the grand prize giveaway—plus the experience of being married or renewed in America’s Sweetheart City. This season, event décor is bursting with bold personality, sustainable flair, and immersive design. Whether you’re styling a wedding, corporate event, or nonprofit fundraiser, the vibe is intentional, joyful, and maximalist. Here are 10 spring 2025 event décor trends and themes our team at BIG DEAL Company predicts will take center stage this season: Sustainable luxe Sustainability is no longer a trend – it’s an expectation. Spring 2025 events are embracing “green glam,” with upcycled décor, biodegradable confetti, and menus and tablescapes sourced from local farms – presented with high-end flair. Reclaimed wood signage, dried floral backdrops, and reusable fabric signage also give a luxe look with less waste. Maximalist florals In case you hadn’t guessed it from the “joyful and maximalist vibe,” minimalist greens are making way for big, bright florals. Wild color palettes, dyed pampas grass, and large-scale designs are all trending. Whether your budget allows for some bright accent blooms placed strategically throughout your space, or floor-to-ceiling installations, you can create an inviting and memorable experience for guests with bold, bright choices. Textured minimalism If minimalism is more suited to the tone of your event, tactile upgrades elevate the guest experience without the noise of in-your-face décor. Linen-wrapped chairs, raw-edge napkins, candle holders in natural materials, and ceramic serveware lend a variety of textures and blend well with eco-friendly luxe. Oversized everything This spring, you’re free to go big or go home when it comes to décor. From 8-foot floral sculptures to mega balloon arches, we’ve already seen some over-the-top examples of maximalist statements this spring. Large-scale installations double as photo backdrops and conversation starters at personal and business events alike. Bold color Why pick one pop of color when you can go all in? Color drenching – using a single bold hue in various tones and textures across décor – is stealing the spotlight. Think canary yellow lounges, marigold florals, amber lighting, and citrus-tinted cocktails to match. Immersive stories If your budget allows for it, guests are craving more than a party – they want to step into another world at your event. From Bridgerton-inspired garden soirees to sci-fi speakeasies, immersive themed experiences will dominate, with lighting, scent, and sound creating 360-degree atmospheres. This all-encompassing décor pairs well with the continuing micro-event trend, where hosts spend more per guest with a small guest count. Seasonal, local tablescapes In line with the spring season and with sustainability, seasonal, local menus and tabletop décor are on trend. Guests want an event that reflects what’s happening locally outdoors. Serve crisp, refreshing fare, and create a live tablescape with wildflowers or locally-grown blooms. Moss runners and fresh herb centerpieces create a fresh look that engages the senses without breaking the budget. Glass gardens The “glass gardens” theme embraces eco-luxe, bold florals, and the transparent trend all in one. Glass décor is blooming across table settings, installations, and even floral displays. Picture glass orbs filled with moss, hanging terrariums, and mirrored tabletops that reflect candlelight at golden hour. Micro zones Continuing a trend from previous years, events are being broken into small environments, called micro-zones, with their own mood lighting and themes. One area may glow with warm Edison bulbs for cocktails, another with pastel projection mapping for dining. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure experience with enhanced intimacy for your guests. Hybrid and micro-events With all of these décor trends and themes, hybrid and micro-events continue. Smaller guest counts allow for higher personalization. Multiple mini-events in one are on trend: a tasting garden, silent disco lounge, interactive branding booth, and live-streamed Q&A – all tailored for both in-person and virtual guests. These events involve a high spend per guest and aim to create a highly memorable, personalized experience for key players; think VIP customers or dream donors. Let’s bring your vision to life. At BIG DEAL Company, we specialize in creative events with trend-driven design, rooted in strategy, catered to your budget. Whether you’re hosting 50 or 5,000, we have the experience to curate events that feel effortless, engaging, and meaningful. With the perfect blend of romance, wine, and touching moments, the event once again proved why Loveland is known as the Sweetheart City! “It just makes sense,” said officiant Todd Harding. “It’s the Sweetheart City, it’s Valentine’s Day, The Sweet Heart Winery. I mean this is perfect.” The setting provided the perfect spot for an emotional ceremony where couples declared or reaffirmed their love. The space was decorated beautifully, and there was live music adding to the romantic atmosphere. For Karin & Andrew Martinez, the experience was nothing short of amazing: “What an experience! We participated in the annual Loveland Valentine’s Group Wedding and what a fantastic experience! We had no idea what to expect, and the event exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this event to everyone - skip the courthouse and save the date and buy tickets for Valentine’s Day at Sweet Heart Winery! The communication through email was great, the photographers and Photo Booth operators were fun, the tasting room staff were enthusiastic and passionate about wine, and the ceremony ran smoothly. Everyone involved really put their heart and soul into making a special event. The officiant conducted a sweet, heartfelt ceremony and the live music was wonderful! An easy, stress-free experience.” The Big Deal Company team was proud to play a role in making this event a success. Christine and Carrie provided readings during the ceremony, while Tiffany helped with decor and guided couples through the lineup before they walked down the aisle. As glasses clinked and couples shared their first (or renewed) kiss as spouses, the afternoon was a reminder that love always finds its way in Loveland. Planning an event is like playing Jenga. Every piece holds another piece up and when they line up it’s perfect. The venue is one of the biggest pieces that can balance out and save other pieces from falling. But what exactly makes a venue perfect for your event? For corporate meetings, weddings, or charity galas, these top 10 venue must-haves will help you lock in success! 1. Location, Location, Location The first rule of real estate applies to event venues too. Choose a spot that’s easy to find, close to public transport, and has ample parking. Bonus points if it’s in a trendy neighborhood that guests will be excited to visit. BDC Pro Tip: Check out the surrounding area for restaurants, hotels, and attractions to keep your guests entertained before and after the event. 2. The Right Atmosphere Your venue sets the tone for the entire event. A rustic barn might not scream "corporate excellence," just as a sterile boardroom won’t fit a whimsical wedding. BDC Pro Tip: Consider the vibe you’re going for. Does the venue enhance your theme, or will you need to spend time and money transforming it? 3. Flexibility with Layouts A great venue offers flexibility. You should be able to arrange seating, stages, and dance floors to fit your needs. No one wants to be stuck in a venue that’s rigid about floor plans. Some venues even charge extra if you move around too much furniture, so ask ahead of time. BDC Pro Tip: Ask if the venue has movable walls, customizable lighting, and various furniture options to help bring your vision to life. 4. Tech-Savvy Amenities In today’s world, tech can make or break an event. Look for venues with strong Wi-Fi, AV equipment, and enough power outlets to keep your tech-savvy attendees happy. It’s especially nice if they have a specific contact who will be on hand to help with any last-minute questions. BDC Pro Tip: Test the Wi-Fi strength before booking—especially if you’re planning a hybrid event, live-streaming, or digital ticket check-in. 5. A Dedicated Point of Contact A venue with a dedicated event coordinator is a game-changer. They know the ins and outs of the space and can troubleshoot problems before you even realize they exist. BDC Pro Tip: Build a relationship with this person. Their insider knowledge can save you time, money, and headaches. 6. Catering Options That Wow Let’s face it—food is a highlight of any event. Your venue should either have a top-notch catering team or allow you to bring in your own caterer. BDC Pro Tip: Ask about menu customization and dietary accommodations. A gluten-free option here and a vegan dish there can make all the difference for guests. 7. Adequate Restrooms (Yes, Really!) It’s not glamorous, but restroom availability is crucial. No one wants long bathroom lines at a formal event. BDC Pro Tip: Make sure the restrooms are clean, well-stocked, and easily accessible. If the venue has attendants to maintain them during the event, even better! 8. Ample Parking (or Easy Transport Options) Guests should feel relaxed when they arrive—not stressed from circling the block for parking. If parking is limited, ensure there are clear alternatives, like ride-share drop-off zones. BDC Pro Tip: If the venue is in a busy area, consider arranging a shuttle service to make transportation seamless. 9. Accessibility for All Your venue should be welcoming to everyone, including those with disabilities. Check for ramps, elevators, and accessible restrooms. BDC Pro Tip: Don’t forget about acoustics for guests with hearing difficulties and clear signage for those who might need assistance navigating the space. 10. Backup Plans (Because Life Happens) Even the best-planned events can hit a snag. Whether it’s a sudden rainstorm or a tech failure, your venue should have contingency plans. BDC Pro Tip: Ask about indoor/outdoor options, generator backups, and on-call staff to handle unexpected hiccups. Choosing the right venue can feel overwhelming, but focusing on these must-haves will make your decision easier—and your event more successful.
