BIG DEAL Company was honored to once again be the planning partners for Thompson Education Foundation’s Stan Sheer Memorial Golf Tournament. The event brought together community sponsors, educational supporters, and golf enthusiasts alike. It was a huge success, bringing together players for a day of friendly competition, all to support the fundraising efforts of Thompson Education Foundation. The Perfect Swing for a Cause The greens of Loveland’s Mariana Butte Golf Course played host to the tournament. Golfers arrived just after the sun rose above the course peaks - ready to play and eager to make a difference. They were greeted with breakfast burritos and hot coffee. We were also met with the most perfect weather for golf! The Joy of Giving This tournament serves as a significant fundraiser for TEF’s Dr. Stan Scheer Memorial Student Opportunity Fund. The Dr. Stan Scheer Memorial Student Opportunity Fund provides gap funding for Thompson School District students to embrace individual academic, leadership, recognition and extracurricular opportunities to ensure opportunities when there are financial barriers in the way. Golfers were encouraged to help raise more funds through games and course activities like “Beat the Pro” and Mulligans to provide additional game play. Friendly Competition and Camaraderie The tournament attracted both seasoned golfers and newcomers, creating an environment of healthy competition and camaraderie. Players displayed their skills across the fairways, aiming for the elusive hole-in-one while networking and fostering meaningful connections on the course. A Day of Fun-Filled Activities Beyond the swings and birdies, event staff and Big Deal Company ensured that participants and event sponsors enjoyed a fun-filled day. There were exciting games to foster competition and opportunities to win prizes - including golfing passes for Mariana Butte. Golfers were able to enjoy cold drinks at course beverage carts and were treated to lunch at the conclusion of the event. Games, drinks, and food helped make it an enjoyable experience for all involved. A Heartfelt Thank You The success of the tournament would not have been possible without the support of all those involved - the golf pros, event professionals, foundation staff members, and sponsors. This year, the event was presented by Bank of Colorado and FCI Constructors, Inc. First National Bank of Omaha served as Club Sponsor, while construction company Saunders Heath was the Tee Sponsor. Weedin Agency was the Hole in One Sponsor, and Center for Advanced Dentistry and Wold helped provide the Beverage Carts for thirsty golfers. The 2023 Hole Sponsors were: Cunningham Ent Credit Union Holcim Foothills Credit Union Good Samaritan Society - Loveland Village Xfinity Blas Estrada from The Group Collegiate Peaks Bank Starr & Westbrook, P.C. Attorneys at Law BIG DEAL Company Haynie & Company TEF’s golf tournament and fundraiser exemplified the power of coming together for a greater cause. Beyond the enjoyable day of golf and fellowship, the event stood as an example of generosity within the greater community. BIG DEAL Company is thrilled with the success of this fun event. We are proud to be part of events that create a positive impact for our communities. TEF’s tournament is a reminder that every little swing can lead to a big change and big impact. *Photo credit: Dick's Photography You can find more photos from Dick Knapp Photography in our photo gallery below Below is BIG DEAL's Brand Recognition and Event Summary Report As a collective of experts, BIG DEAL Company specializes in creativity. We understand the significance of creating excitement around your brand, products, or services. Read on for seven ways to generate buzz for your small business. Why is generating buzz so crucial for small businesses, you may wonder? Beyond merely attracting customers, it cultivates brand loyalty, fosters word-of-mouth marketing, and amplifies your online and offline presence. Word-of-mouth marketing relies on MEANINGFUL connections – people who had a great experience with your product or service, other small business owners seeking mutual support, and customers who return again and again. Here’s how to create and foster those meaningful connections. Create Loyal Customers Creating loyal customers starts with providing a top-notch experience. A good reputation and community trust are essential for a small business, so aim to deliver excellence every time. Focus on what you do best, and deliver it to get people talking. Solicit feedback (good or bad) from customers, to figure out where you excel and learn from your mistakes. Network with Other Business Owners Owning a small business is not for the faint of heart, and most small businesses will happily support yours. Join local chambers and in-person or online groups for resources. Build mutually beneficial relationships with other businesses related to yours; Maybe they can recommend clients to you in exchange for a small discount, and vice versa. Industry influencers are people who are viewed as experts in your industry. Endorsement from anyone with a stellar reputation, established following and loyal clientele is priceless. Look for ways you can connect with industry influencers, whether it’s a handshake at an industry event or interacting with their content on social media. Follow Up Good service doesn’t end when a purchase is complete or a contract fulfilled. No customer or client wants to feel like a number on your business’s balance sheet. Good follow-up can create loyal customers and give you feedback you can use to promote your business. Consider:
Provide Incentives When your business is new or feels stagnant, you may need to provide incentives to get positive word-of-mouth going. A little bribery goes a long way in getting people to try out your products and services (so they can tell others how amazing their experience was!) Even satisfied customers need a nudge sometimes. Offer a discount on a future purchase or a free small product in exchange for a review on Google or a shoutout on social media. For certain businesses, a referral program can be a great way to find new clients while rewarding current customers for spreading the word about your services. Use Social Media (effectively) Social media allows you to keep your business at the forefront of potential customers’ minds when you publish quality content on a regular schedule. However, to get the most out of it, you need to engage with your audience. Platforms like Facebook give you the ability to target specific audiences who may find your product or service useful with paid advertisements. We see many small businesses make the mistake of trying to save a few dollars by not promoting their content on social media. We encourage small business owners to think of this spending as an investment, where a few dollars a month could mean tens of thousands of people learning about your business. To build meaningful relationships on social media, engage with those who engage with your business. Respond to messages right away. Engage with comments on your posts. If another business gives you a shoutout, feature it on your page, and return the favor. Interact with other businesses in your industry through groups and by following their pages and engaging with posts to show your support. Host an Event Any time it makes financial sense to host a small event for your business – whether it’s a ribbon cutting, grand opening, new product launch, rebranding, holiday party, or customer appreciation cocktail hour – do it! Seeing potential and current customers in person gives you the chance to make a lasting impression, and a memorable event is something they will associate with your business forever. In addition, events give you the opportunity to build anticipation and create a conversation about your business online and in print leading up to the event. Certain business events are promoted and/or covered by local chambers, downtown business associations, business publications, and news outlets, giving you valuable advertising for your business. Give Back Make your small business visible by getting out in your community. Sponsor a nonprofit event to get your name and logo out there, have your team spend a day volunteering with a local organization instead of sitting in the office, or even host your own fundraising event for a cause. Not only does giving back in your community increase your business’s visibility, it tells your audience what’s important to you and differentiates you from your competition. More than ever, Americans are supporting businesses that champion social causes. Whether you're a budding entrepreneur launching your dream venture or an established small business looking to revitalize your presence, our team of diverse, seasoned marketing experts has got you covered. At Big Deal Company, we have a passion for empowering small businesses to reach their fullest potential, because we believe every client is a big deal. We were thrilled to be asked back as event support for the community-centric and summer-favorite Meals on 4th event, benefitting the work and mission of Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud. Our team of professional event experts worked alongside the Development and Program Directors of this downtown Loveland nonprofit to plan a fabulous evening full of food, fun, and FUNdraising, right in the heart of downtown Loveland! This event takes place entirely outside, in the middle of 4th Street in the city block between Cleveland and Railroad. The planning for this event began back in January when streets were covered with snow and ice. It’s always a little stressful to work around what Mother Nature decides to do, but this year’s event - although smack dab in the middle of our Colorado Monsoons - was met with an absolutely gorgeous late Spring Colorado Day full of sunshine, blue skies, and comfortable temperatures! This event captured the essence of generosity, community spirit, and philanthropy that is so prevalent in the Loveland and Berthoud communities. It was a huge success - surpassing Meals on Wheels’ fundraising goals, and bringing people from all walks of life together to support such a worthy cause! Guests celebrated in style! Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud is celebrating 55 years of service in Southern Larimer County. Their year-long celebration was weaved throughout this event, boasting an atmosphere of a 1950s/1960s soda shop diner. Our team of event planners and the Meals on Wheels volunteers worked some decorative magic, creating an enchanting ambiance with period decorations and flair. Each table was adorned with a checkerboard runner, real vinyl records, and floral arrangements designed to look like ice cream sundaes! Guests were encouraged to dress up in period costumes, and musical guests, The Steve Manshel Trio set the mood with period tunes from the 1950s and 1960s. A True Expression of Community This unique fundraising event is built on a large amount of community involvement. Guests are treated to a multi-course meal, with each course provided by a different local restaurant and drinks donated by local breweries and bars.We were honored to serve alongside the following Restaurant and Brewery Partners:
The event program focused on stories of hope and inspiration - told by a longtime Meals on Wheels Volunteer and Executive Director, Jeffrey Pomranka. To further boost the evening’s fundraising efforts, local auctioneers led a special Heads or Tails game where attendees competed to win a special Date Night Air BnB package that included an overnight stay at a Downtown Arts District Bungalow and local restaurant and drink gift cards. The evening concluded with a very successful Paddle Raise, collecting $23,600 in support of Meals on Wheels food and programs! Thanks to the collective efforts of Mother Nature, the organization, vendors, volunteers, and the generosity of the community, Meals on 4th exceeded all expectations! The success of the evening will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the ability of Meals on Wheels to make a difference in the lives of more homebound individuals - feeding and supporting our community for generations to come! Planning a successful fundraiser requires careful consideration, a group of dedicated individuals and meticulous planning. While there are a plethora of details and steps to follow, defining fundraising goals is always the best place to start when planning a non-profit fundraiser. This involves identifying specific financial targets, the purpose of the fundraiser, and the programs or projects that it will support. Next, think about what would motivate people to support your organization, and begin to build creative and engaging fundraising ideas that align with your cause and resonate with your target audience. Do your followers prefer fancy gala dinners? Are they active and willing to participate in a charity run? Do they prefer online options such as a crowdfunding campaign? Select an idea that suits your resources, capacity, and the preferences of your donor base. Once you have an idea of how you will gather your followers and supporters, begin working on a dynamic event timeline. This timeline should outline all the key tasks leading up to the fundraiser. Set specific deadlines for each task, including securing a venue, arranging permits, and contacting and hiring vendors. This timeline should also include a communications and marketing plan for your event’s promotion. All fundraising events require a dedicated team of volunteers who can serve as ambassadors for your brand and are passionate about your cause. Start your volunteer search early, contacting interested parties often and consistently. Offset event costs by securing sponsors and event partners. Approach local businesses, corporations, and individuals who share your organization’s values and may be interested in sponsoring or partnering with your event. A variety of sponsorship levels and benefits are always a good way to attract donors. BIG DEAL Company has a proven Non-Profit Fundraising Plan BIG DEAL Company has worked with dozens of organizations, helping them build creative and engaging events and fundraising campaigns. That was certainly the case at Dementia Together’s Joy on the Journey fundraising event that BIG DEAL had the pleasure of planning. The numbers from this event are proof of its success:
Dementia Together has been doing incredible work in Northern Colorado - offering support and resources for care partners, families and people living with dementia. Their Joy on the Journey event was about bringing people in our community together to create a connection and to help people gain an understanding about how Dementia Together supports their clients and works with community partners. The event space was full of energy. Bright, white tables and coverings provided by Primary Event Rentals were adorned with picture cubes of the clients and families that benefit from Dementia Together’s services filled the space. Guests were treated to delicious food provided by Fresh Plate Catering, while being serenaded by the talented duo from Mountain City Music. Throughout the evening, guests heard from Dementia Together’s Executive Director and other supporters. They heard stories that were both heart-warming and inspiring, and it was clear that the work being done by this amazing organization is truly making a difference in people’s lives. BIG DEAL Company was honored to be a planning partner for such an important and spectacular event! From concept to execution, this event took over 300 planning hours to pull off.
